Important guidelines that ensure our repair cafés run smoothly and safely. Please review these rules before your visit to understand what we can fix and how we work together to create a positive repair experience for everyone.

House Rules

  • Children must be supervised.
  • Be patient—repairs are handled in order.
  • Repairs are at your own risk and not guaranteed. Note your items under warranty.
  • One item per person per visit (more if time allows and registered).
  • Fixers will guide you through the repair, please participate and learn.
  • All work is voluntary and free of charge. Donations are welcome.
  • Replacement parts are not supplied.
  • Fixers may refuse dirty or unsafe items. Please bring items clean.
  • Take home anything not repaired. Use the City's Waste Wizard for disposal.

Code of Conduct

  • Treat volunteers, visitors, and staff respectfully.
  • No harassment, bullying, or discrimination.
  • Respect the venue and volunteers' property.
  • Follow registration, line-up, and repair process.
  • Be mindful of sensitivities (noise, scents).
  • Ask permission before taking photos or videos.
  • Report Code of Conduct issues to registration.
  • No retaliation against those who report concerns.
  • Keep the space inclusive and welcoming.

Right-to-Reject

We cannot accept:

  • Clothing alterations
  • Medical equipment
  • Cell phones & cameras
  • Dirty & unwashed clothing
  • Items with asbestos (pre-1994) or lead
  • Items operating on power greater than 120 volts
  • Tools & appliances operating on different currents
  • Unclean, insect-infested, food-contaminated items
  • Items involving welding, refrigeration, gas-powered equipment
